Stephen G. Bowling
Founder and Executive Director

Stephen G. Bowling is the Founder and Executive Director of the Prometheum Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and the free exchange of ideas. He believes that the ability to think independently, evaluate competing arguments, and engage constructively with differing viewpoints is essential to an educated citizenry and a thriving society. For more than three decades, Stephen has moderated the Franklin Forum, as well as The Prometheum, facilitating discussions with high school students and adults on public policy and contemporary issues. This experience has reinforced his conviction that young people deserve opportunities to develop their own perspectives, challenge conventional assumptions, and learn to disagree thoughtfully and respectfully. Through the Prometheum Foundation, he is committed to advancing these principles and helping cultivate a generation of more informed, independent, and engaged thinkers.

Stephen’s dedication to intellectual exploration extends beyond education. An entrepreneur, inventor holding several patents, and award-winning author, he has pursued a wide range of creative and intellectual endeavors, from developing innovative ideas to writing books that inspire imagination and discovery. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Brandeis University and also leads The Prometheum, reflecting his broader commitment to the exploration and exchange of ideas. Across these endeavors, a consistent theme emerges: meaningful progress begins when people are encouraged to question, explore, create, and think for themselves.

Stephen sees the Prometheum Foundation’s mission as an investment in the intellectual independence of future generations. Realizing that mission requires more than good intentions; it requires committed individuals and a community that recognizes the enduring value of education, open inquiry, and civil discourse. He welcomes the support of those who share this vision and understand that strengthening the next generation’s capacity to reason, engage, and think independently is an investment in the future of our society.
